Last week was so much fun! We spent 3 days at Printer Boy Campground with the rest of Foundations. We were lucky enough to get the same space as we did last year with a huge "crater" in the middle. It was a great spot to sit in a circle and process each day. I was super impressed with the helpfulness and leadership of each and every kid. When I woke up on the last day, one group had already packed and deconstructed their tent! So awesome! It was really fun to see the whole advising laughing and playing together.
This week classes begin! On Monday and Tuesday, they will take MAPS testing in math and communications. Tuesday is class registration and on Wednesday it will be the first day of all classes. I think everyone is really excited to start learning. We will also do some trip processing for the next few days in advising. Students will reflect on their goals that they set for the trip and evaluate themselves.

We are back for the 19-20 school year and I couldn't be more excited! I'm so happy with the group of 8th graders who have stepped up as leaders this week, and the 7th graders who are such positive additions to our advising.
For the last three days, we have been getting to know each other in a lot of different ways! From name games, to team building challenges, to duck-duck-goose, we are learning to work and play together and have a great time doing it! Yesterday, they built their schedules, so be on the lookout for those to sign over the weekend. Next week is going to be a really fun week! On Monday, foundations students will go to Bear Creek Lake to do some further group building and water sports. This is our first community day, and it will allow kids to play in the water since they won't be able to do so on our camping trip. Tuesday we will do some preparation for our beginnings trip by setting goals and talking about any fears and anxieties that might be coming up about being away from home for three days. And finally, we have our beginnings trip! Please make sure you have a packing list for the trip, as it's super important that everyone has their needs met to be comfortable and safe. Ask your students about all the happenings this week, and hopefully they had as much fun as I did! |
